LIMAN
Electro-Folk Music from Türkiye
Cem Yildiz saz, electronics, vocals
Ramazan Sesler clarinet
Ismail Pesluk percussions
LIMAN is the extraordinary meeting of three major musicians of the current Turkish scene: Cem Yildiz, Ramazan Sesler, and Ismail Peşluk. Together, they offer a true "electro-traditional" exploration based on the richness of Turkish folk music heritage, spanning from Istanbul to the Black Sea shores, through the valleys of Anatolia and the Aegean coast.
Gifted with breathtaking virtuosity, they bring to life the atmosphere of Bosphorus taverns, Anatolian melodies, Gypsy and Balkan rhythms, and the zeybek dances of the Aegean Sea. An initiatory, festive and hypnotic journey through a magnificent geography at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Mediterranean
Cem Yildiz • saz, electronics, vocals
Cem Yildiz is a pioneer of the "world music & electro" scene in Istanbul. The artist has developed a unique musical universe, blending popular and electronic sounds. With his electrified saz, mesmerizing voice, and machines, the electro-shaman pushes the boundaries of traditional Anatolian music, immersing the audience in the vibrant sounds of Istanbul's urban scene.
Ramazan Sesler • clarinet
Son of the legendary Selim Sesler, known as the "Coltrane of the Clarinet", Ramazan Sesler carries on a unique style and a three-generation musical legacy that has left its mark on Turkey and the Balkans. The refined breath of his clarinet takes us from the makams of Turkish classical music to the rhythms of the Balkans, plunging us into the festive atmosphere of the taverns of the Bosphorus.
Ismail Peşluk • percussions
The finesse and dexterity of this master of the darbuka make him one of Turkey’s most talented percussionists. You may find him performing at weddings, in Bosphorus taverns, as well as in symphony orchestras and jazz festivals.
Through his vast experience, Ismail Peşluk has expanded his range of instruments to include cajón, bongo, kanjira, tumba, bendir, and tambourine. A self-proclaimed "musician of the world," his repertoire, bridging jazz and tradition, extends from Spain to India, with Turkey at its heart.
